Warm Bellies Initiative Featured Pet: Meet Isis!

For over a year now, P.L.A.Y. has been helping less fortunate pets through our Warm Bellies Initiative with the Petfinder Foundation. To help raise more awareness for these lovable pups, we're highlighting our past grant recipients and adoptable pets on our blog. Meet Isis.

Isis, an 11 year old spunky senior female, found herself at Hello Bully because her owner was battling cancer and wanted to be sure that she would have a safe place to go when the time came. She has just lost everything she's ever known, but just looking into her eyes, you fall in love. A sweet, old soul, Hello Bully quickly saw that Isis was going to be just fine.

Isis is an amazing dog who is completely house trained and knows all of her basic commands such as sit, lay down, and stay; not to mention she walks fantastic on leash! Other than snuggling up with her humans, playing with tennis balls may be her favorite activity! Isis doesn’t get along very well with other dogs, and this has been her biggest adversity to overcome. However, being in a part time foster house and participating in Hello Bully’s classes with other dogs, has helped her progress and she has come really far. Even so, Isis would be happiest as an only pet.

"Isis is a timeless beauty with big, brown soulful eyes. I love to watch as she sits quietly, looking out the window. I believe she is thinking about her own home. In my eyes she is the perfect dog and the absolute meaning of a best friend,” said her foster mom Gretchen Sturm.

A couple months ago, Hello Bully won our Warm Bellies Voters' Choice and received two sets of Chill Pads for their pets! "The Warm Bellies Chill Pad has helped our dogs tremendously. Having a nice warm pet bed to lay on is imperative for the well being of dogs in the rescue," said Adoptions Coordinator, Ashley Phelps. "Having that sense of comfort and relaxation allows them to feel more at home which creates them to be more adoptable. It also lets the adopters see them in their relaxation state, and a non-stressed comfy dog, is a happy dog. This makes the best for adoptions!"

Hello Bully's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and repair the reputation of the American Pit Bull Terrier. A non-profit 501c3 corporation, volunteers and fosters support the organization out of the kindness of their hearts, and their passion to help Pit Bulls. Hello Bully's Halfway House has the capability to hold and care for up to 5 dogs. Being a smaller rescue facility, an average adoption can take 6 months to a year, and as soon as one dog is adopted, they rescue another. In additional to adoptions and rescues, they also hold monthly events to educate the public on the amazing breed.
