3 Ways to Keep High Energy Dogs Happy

A high energy dog is something that you need to be prepared for before you decide to bring it into your home. They have a lot of requirements in terms of keeping them busy if you don't want to become destructive. Here are some of the ways that you can go about keeping your high energy dog entertained.

Purchase Engaging Toys

Mental involvement is a good method of keeping your dog entertained when you're at work. Toys that involve the use of puzzles to get a treat or pull out another favorite toy are an option. You want something that will engage your dog's mental faculties and something that they won't get bored with quickly. Consider purchasing a variety of these styles of toys so that you can change them out as needed. You don't want your dog to lose interest in these toys while you're out of the house. This can cause your dog to find other means in which to keep themselves entertained.

Create Movement Opportunities

Exercise is imperative when you have a dog that likes to move. Taking your high energy dog for a walk just isn't going to cut it. The best way to exercise your dog is to let them run free. You may want to visit your local dog park a couple times a day. Another solution is to invest in some kind of obstacle course or have land on which your dog can expend their energy. Being on the go will work to curb some of the extra energy that could cause your dog to get into trouble. The amount of space that will be required for your dog to run in will depend on their particular breed. If you find a dog breed for a good deal, such as European Doberman puppies for sale, before you make an impulse purchase you must make sure you understand that they require more space than a Terrier.

Be Interactive

When you're around, you need to find means in which to engage with your dog. This means that you need to play with your dog or to take them places with you. Including your high energy dog in your family activities is a good way to get them out of the house and keep them engaged. Nothing will make them more tired than to experience new things. This method will also help them to become better family pets. Exposing your dog to a variety of situations helps to temper some of their fears and anxieties.

A high energy dog needs special considerations in order to prevent problems in your home. Use these strategies so that you can keep your dog happy and maintain your sanity.
