Tips To Help You Clean up Your Pets Mess

When you have a pet, you realize how important they are in your life. Animals are great companions waiting to shower you with love and admiration. They bring so much entertainment and happiness into your life, but they also come with much responsibility. Cleaning up pet stains is one job that you prefer not to do. Stains are a hassle, but knowing how to clean them will help. These tips will instruct you on how to get those pesky stains removed from your surface.

Pick any Mess Before You Clean

When cleaning up messes that are not liquid, get disposable gloves and a paper towel to pick up any chunks. Do this softly to ensure you do not smear any solids, making the stain worse. Then, use an absorbent towel to soak up as much liquid as possible. Finally, it helps to apply a generous amount of pressure to get down into the carpet padding, avoiding any lingering odors that may show up later.

If your pet sleeps in bed with you, they may have accidents from time to time. So now you have the task to figuring how to get pee out of a matress. There are multiple easy, inexpensive ways to get rid of unwanted stains.

Do not Scrub the Stain

When your pet has an accident, by instinct, you want to throw a towel down and scrub thoroughly to clean up the mess. Unknowingly washing too hard spreads the stain and mattes the carpet. Instead, blot the stain with a towel, start from the outside and work your way inward. One idea is to use a white towel to clean up any mess. Your white towels can easily be bleached in the wash, guaranteeing they come out stain free.

Put the used paper towels where you want your dog to go to the bathroom when possible. This will familiarize your pet with the spot where they should go instead of them going on your carpeted areas. If they continue to smell their scent, they will likely consider that their bathroom spot.

Use a Small Amount of Cleaner

Naturally, when cleaning up after your pet, you want to put as much product on the stain as possible. Instead, it would be best if you used as little solution as possible. It may sound backward, but using too much cleaner attracts dirt that will show up on your carpet later. It is best to clean a small area at a time and then repeat the process until the mess is gone. Therefore, you should use a small amount of solution to cut down on excess residue.

Steer Clear of Heat

You might think using hot water is better for getting out stains. But, it might surprise you to learn that is not necessarily true. Using a warmed cleanser or steamers to get rid of any mess will only permanently set the stain in, making it almost impossible to remove later. Also, the heat will attach the stain to fibers and leave a lingering odor in an area you thought was clean. Stick with room temperature water when cleaning up messes.

Rinse Where You Cleaned

The most crucial and overlooked step of the cleaning process is rinsing where you cleaned. You might think your work is complete once you remove the stain. However, that is not the case. You should use as much water as you need to remove any additional cleaning product left behind. Now use a towel to blot it as dry as possible, and then smooth the edges down so it is not evident that you only cleaned a particular spot. This way no watermarks or hard edges are left behind.

It is no secret that people love their pets, but not necessarily like the mess they leave behind. So when your pet inevitably has an accident, take a deep breath and use what you know to get rid of the mess fast.
