It’s the most wonderful time of the year! While we’re dreaming of a white Christmas and getting to the end of our festive to-do lists, our pets want nothing more than to spend some wholesome quality time with family. They keep us company all year round with their unrivalled positivity, so we think it’s time to give back and let them know how special they are to us. We’ve put together some of our favorite ways to include your furry family-members in your festive plans!
A Pet Photo Shoot
Not that you needed an excuse to get some new snaps of your cute companion – but this time make it festive! Tis the season for family and no family portrait is complete without your pet! If they’re happy in a comfy jumper, matching Christmas sweaters would make for the most adorable family photo! Or you could go for a lighter touch with Santa hats and a festive collar.
Christmas treats
Christmas wouldn’t be the same without tucking into a traditional lunch or dinner and it’s great to extend this luxury to our furry friends.
Create a festive dinner for your pet with turkey (try to avoid bones) with pureed vegetables but make sure not to serve up any onions or garlic as these can be toxic to pets. You can even get pet gravy to finish it off! Anything heavy in fat content (i.e., the goose-fat potatoes) can also make pets ill so worth avoiding.
Christmas Movie Night
We can’t think of anything more wholesome that snuggling up with your pet after a busy day to watch Christmas movies. While pets can’t follow a plotline, it’s always exciting for them to see other cats or dogs! Plus, they’ll love the uninterrupted time with you. Some Christmas movies with pet appeal include Beethoven’s Christmas, The Grinch, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever or The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas. Make it like a cinema trip with movie snacks – popcorn and hot choc for you and some tasty nibbles or home-made biscuits for your pet. You could even cheers some festive bubbles with their “pawsecco” - a delicious herbal infusion alternative to prosecco for pets!
Being Santa
You’ll know your pet better than anyone, but if you’re still settling in with a lockdown fur-baby, find out more about your breed’s quirks. Here at P.L.A.Y. we like to think of ourselves as Santa’s elves when it comes to gift shopping, with everything from luxury beds and blankets to chew toys and scratching poles. Or, choose from items from our Holiday Collection, squeaky toy selection of plush festive baubles, soft luxe throws or a cozy new snuggle bed.
Festive Exercise
For dog owners, find a new route or one you’ve not walked often and treat your pet to some fresh sights and smells. We have a great selection of outdoor toys to add some activity to your walk. For cat mums and dads, how about a new stylish cat scratcher?
Merry Christmas from all of the P.L.A.Y. team!
