Dogs are amazing animals. Animals that have strong family and 'pack' ties. That's why they make such great adopted members of our families. They sleep with us, they protect us and more often than anything else - they make us smile. Dogs are also amazingly intuitive - there have been many times when I've had a rough day or am just exhausted after getting home, and my pup just knows. Instead of begging to go out to play, she curls right up next to me as if she were saying, "What's wrong? It's okay, you can tell me all about it..."
I always love seeing videos of dogs and animals that have completely integrated into a family's 'pack'. I came across this one a few months ago and it still brings a smile to my face. This sweet husky mix soothes a crying baby while another husky is watching close by - I love the idea that one day when I have kids, they will get to experience unconditonal love not just from me but my dog as well.
