Momo Monday: A San Francisco Howliday

Hey furiends! I’m taking a quick break from writing my letter to Santa and wanted to give you the run down on all of the pawsome things you can do in San Francisco for the howlidays. Okay I know what you’re thinking, how can Momo still be writing her Christmas letter to Santa?? Don’t worry, the big man in the red suit knows that I’ve been extra good this year and is letting me turn mine in a little later than usual. Plus my pawrents told me I had to make some adjustments to my list; apparently it’s not nice to ask Santa to take your little brother back to the North Pole with him so you can be an only child again. To help secure a spot on the nice list I am going to share with you my favorite things to do in the city by the bay this howliday season!

Ice Skating in Union Square:

Up first is an activity that can’t be missed during Christmas time in the city. Now through January 20th you and your furiends can have a jolly good time twirling around the middle of Union Square while listening to Christmas classics. Since I’m not the most coordinated creature on the ice, my dad usually picks me up takes me around the rink for a few laps so I can feel like I’m floating in a winter wonderland. We do let a few laughs slip when we see people take a tumble on the ice, but shhh, don’t tell Santa that or he won’t put me on the nice list. Whether you’re showing off your skills on the ice or sipping on some hot cocoa while taking in the scenery, this is a classic howliday event that will give you a new appreciation for Union Square.

Gingerbread Man House at the Fairmont:

Next up, we have one of the tastiest activities on the list! Every year the Fairmont in San Francisco catches the eyes and noses of people from all over with its enormous two-story Gingerbread House creation. Just thinking about it has me drooling! This year the yummy display will feature a little over 6,000 gingerbread bricks and include 1,650 pounds of candy. Oh and did I mention it will also include 3,300 pounds of royal icing? You heard that right! I just love it when my pawrents take me to see it each year; it really puts you in the howliday mood.

Pro Foodie Tip: Wear an oversized jacket with a hood so no one will see you sneaking a few nibbles as you nonchalantly stroll through the yummy display.

Nutcracker vs A Christmas Carol:

This might be the biggest debate surrounding Christmas other than who gets to put the angel on top of the Christmas tree this year! Whether you’re a fan of live shows or not, you’re going to want to check out both of these events and see for yourself why they have become a Christmas tradition for many families during the howlidays. Whether your like my hoomom and are dazzled by the elegant dancers in the Nutcracker, or if you’re like my hoodad and prefer the moving message delivered by the actors of all ages in A Christmas Carol, you are sure to walk out of the theater with more holiday spirit than you had when you went it. Pawsonally, I am always up for either show as long as we bring along lots of snacks!

Christmas Light Gazing:

What better way to get into the howliday spirit than by piling in the car with furiends and family to check out all the pawsome light displays! This is one of my favfurite howliday activities, and it’s not just because I get to be chauffeured all over town. I just love cruising up and down the streets of different neighborhoods that are glowing with pretty lights and fun, festive décor. Seeing everyone get into the howliday spirit has an infectious way of making even the grumpiest humpug sing along to the Christmas station in the car. Neighborhoods like Sea Cliff and St. Francis Wood always have the best decorations if you ask me. Fill up your reusable mug with some hot apple cider and go check out some Christmas lights. You might just run into an adorable little pug named Momo!

I hope you all enjoy trying out the activities on my list and I’m wishing you all a Happy Howliday’s and a Meowy Christmas!
