5 Great Things to Do With Your Pet While in Quarantine

 Quarantine

When you're in quarantine, both you and your dog are stuck indoors unless you have a private backyard to play in. It can get boring inside the home pretty fast, especially if you reside in an apartment. You'll want to prepare and not just in buying extra rolls of toilet paper. Make sure that Fido is well-stocked when it comes to pet food, pet medication, and cleaning supplies. Here are some excellent ways to entertain your dog while in quarantine.

1. Watch DogTV

You and your furry friend will enjoy this visual treat. DogTV is a 24/7 channel featuring scientifically developed programs that provide the right company for dogs when left alone. Best of all, you can watch it together, and your canine will benefit from episodes of relaxation, stimulation, and exposure.

Even the colors on the screen may appear paler on DogTV. The visual content has been adjusted to appeal to a pooch's sense of vision. For example, dogs don't see red or green well, so the colors have been adjusted to make it more interesting to the dog watching. Even sounds have been tweaked to appeal to your dog for stimulation or relaxation.

2. Make Puzzle Toys

Dogs are smart animals that enjoy the hunt, so start making puzzle toys to entertain your pet, and hide treats in them.

The Box Puzzle is a fine example of a fun way to make things interesting while quarantined.

You're probably getting several deliveries, and many of them come in different-sized boxes. Save these boxes, and arrange them on the floor while Fido is in another room. Hide treats inside a couple of the boxes.

Dog puzzles with treats are an excellent way for dogs to use their mental energy in constructive (rather than destructive) ways.

3. Play Indoors/Outdoors

Dogs of all breeds enjoy physical activity, and if you have a backyard, then let them loose to burn off energy. Anything from a ball toss to a frisbee toss is a good thing for Fido, and if you have a child also under quarantine, have them outdoors getting fresh air and blowing off steam.

You can have fun indoors, too. Have a rope toy on hand for a good game of tug of war. You could also order some toys online, and have them shipped to you so that your dog can enjoy getting new toys to play with.

If you don’t have a pet now might be a great time to get one since you have extra time to help train them. Dogs are amazing companions, and it's fun to look at these beautiful creatures online like german shepherds, black labs, golden retriever puppies, or even pembroke welsh corgi puppies for sale. If you’ve been considering a pet for a little while, now might be a great time to get one.

4. Make Homemade Dog Treats

Trust us, your dog will be right by your side as you head to the kitchen to try your hand at making these peanut butter yum-yums. All you do is mix, roll, and cut!

These homemade dog treats are healthier than the store-bought ones with ingredients like peanut butter, pumpkin puree, eggs, and whole wheat flour.

The batch takes about 25 minutes to bake. You can find the recipe for Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats at DamnDelicious.net.

5. Bond Big-Time

Take this time to snuggle with your pooch, and assure them that they are loved and protected. These are stressful times, but nothing beats the incredible bond between human and canine, right?

Maybe snap photos or take videos of your dog, and send them to your friends and relatives who are also in isolation.

COVID-19 quarantine is something most of us have to do, but we will get through it. Our dogs make stressful times a whole lot easier. There's nothing like a happy, wagging tail.
