Not sure how to go green this Earth Day? Here are 3 simple suggestions on how you can be eco-friendlier with your pup today!

1) Pick it up! As we all know, dog waste is gross! No one wants to step in it, let alone have it runoff into our water ways. To top it off, dog waste is filled with bacteria that can make humans and other animals sick. So even if no one sees it happening, pick it up! And make sure to use biodegradable bags to keep plastic out of our landfills.

2) Get rid of the plastic water bottles! Staying hydrated is important but get rid of those single-use plastic bottles. H204K9 makes awesome stainless steel water bottles just for dogs; no spilling or wasted h2o here - the cap is the cup! These are a great and easy way to help reduce waste.

3) Get out and enjoy the great outdoors! Turn off the TV, lights and heater. Take your pup for a nice long walk and enjoy some fresh air. Not only will you be getting some exercise, you'll also be spending some fun quality time with your pup. Don't forget to bring along an eco-friendly dog toy! Double points for walking and not driving to your favorite parks and trails.

As you know, we pride ourselves on making eco-friendly pet beds and accessories. Since Earth Day is this Sunday, April 22nd, we wanted to share a couple of our favorite new companies that make it so easy to go green.

To us, being green isn't just about being good to the planet. It's about being good to ourselves too! We try to make sure we eat as naturally and healthily as possible - that includes Miss Momo! That's why when we met Andrea and Bocce, the mastermind and inspiration behind Bocce's Bakery, we were in love! Bocce's Bakery specializes in all-natural, preservative and chemical-free biscuits for our four-legged family members. In addition to the freshest ingredients, all of the yummy treats are even hand-made! With flavors like Fish & Chips, Truffle Mac &  Cheese and The Big Apply Pie, your pup will be in biscuit heaven - you'll be tempted to try them yourselves...

We've said it before and we'll say it again: everyone poops. A trait of a responsible dog owner is whether or not they scoop that poop. While we like to recycle and reuse, grocery bags that you use to get rid of your pup's waste (which yes, is better than just throwing them away), can take up to 1,000 (yes, 1,000) years to breakdown. That's a lot of years for carrying your groceries and some poop. We say, take that extra step and get some biodegradable bags.

At the HH Backer show, we came across a great new company called Earth Rated. There are definitely a lot of poop bag companies out there - but Earth Rated touts PoopBags that are bigger, thicker, tougher and, for those days when Buddy is dragging his butt, totally leak-proof. If you're like us, leak-proof is important. In as quick as 24 months, these bags break down into completely natural carbon dioxide and water - and 24 months is WAY better than 1,000 years. What we especially love is that they also create compostable bags made from all-natural ingredients (like corn) that break down in as little as 40 days. Poop bags have never been so cool.

As usual, we're always working on creating new eco-friendly pet beds and accessories Our latest products, greeting cards and gift tags, are made from 100% post-consumer recycled waste. To top it off, they're super cute too.

Have you tried any of these products? We'd love to hear your thoughts - leave us a comment below!

At P.L.A.Y., we try our best to be eco-friendly and to reduce our impact on the planet. In fact, we fill all of our beds with 100 percent post-consumer certified-safe recyled water bottles! With it being Earth Day, we wanted to highlight other green pet products that we absolutely love!

Everyone poops. I know kinda of brash huh? But being responsibile pet owners, its important to scoop and bag that crap up (pun intended). I always knew it would only be a matter of time before someone created a biodegradable plastic bag. Many companies now tout that they are biodegradable - but they can be misleading. A product may say it's 'green' but unless it says it meets ASTM D6400 specifications for biodegradable product claims, be cautious. PoopBags.com have a variety of sizes and are made with renewable resources like corn. For their regular size, a one month supply (100 bags) is only $19.99!

Being a huge cyclist, my husband was beyond excited when he saw these awesome collars made by Cycle Dog. Once deflated, bike tires are hard to recycle - so Cycle Dog made them into stylish, comfortable and eco friendly collars for human's best friend. Extra cool factor: the leash attacher on the collar doubles as a bottle opener! Prices range from $21-$25 depending on size.

There are lots of toys made from recycled materials that we love. One of our favorites? Fat Cat's Water Bottle Cruncher toys. What is it about the crunch of a water bottle that makes dogs go crazy? No clue... but at least now you can let them play all they want without having to worry about the bottles cracking and unwanted accidents. Cool factor? When the crunch runs out, refill with another bottle!

We have a lot more favorites that we will be sure to share at a later time. What about you? Be sure to leave a comment and let us know about your favorite eco-friendly products!
